Prevent Bacterial Growth & Corrosion during Bottling & Canning

After a recent change in bottles, a major brewery encountered issues with drying the underside of the cap on their new bottles.  This was a big issue, since incomplete drying is the primary cause for bacterial growth and possible corrosion of the cap over time.  Their existing blower and air delivery device effectively dried the old bottle, but with the new, ½” shorter bottle, the crown was not being thoroughly dried.  Using air flow modeling, Paxton Products was able to design and then test in-house a new air delivery system for the brewery.

Utilizing a combination of custom air knives and manifolds, the new Paxton system proved successful in  thoroughly drying the bottle, the crown and under the cap,  eliminating mold and corrosion, while simultaneously ensuring labeling integrity downstream.

Paxton Products air delivery systems are engineered to provide maximum flexibility in drying and blow off of packages and products of all shapes and sizes.  With high efficiency, low maintenance centrifugal blowers, Paxton systems provide thorough drying while reducing energy usage by over 80% as compared to compressed air drying systems.

Blower Service Tips from Paul:  Which belt to use?  Paul Reichle

Paxton AT Series blowers use a belt that is reinforced with Aramide cord.  The Aramide cord gives added strength to the belt and results in minimal belt stretch of less than 1%.   Common belts use polyester instead of Aramide, and thus can stretch up to 3%.  More stretch gives a looser running belt which can accelerate belt failure and costly downtime.  We recommend replacing the belt annually with a genuine Paxton belt to ensure peak performance.   And when you change the belt, don’t forget to change the tensioner spring.  A fresh spring will help to maintain tension for optimum belt life and blower performance.

Paxton XT Series blowers use a specially designed auto-tension belt.   This belt is designed to operate for 3 years.  And unlike common belts, the XT series belts have a self tensioning feature that results in minimal bearing loads -- meaning less load on the blower head bearings and significantly longer blower head life.  The auto-tension belt yields more uptime for your production.

When you call to order your new belts, don’t forget to have the serial number of the blower ready!
