UABWC Members Enjoy Tour of
Comprehensive Cancer Center
After the snow cancelled the January visit to Edge of Chaos, it was good to join other members for a delicious lunch at the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Thanks to member Beena Thannickal for arranging this interesting event. We heard from two surgeons on staff about their research in breast and gynelogical cancers. Blank led an informative tour of the space including labs the public does not normally get to see.
I truly believe that Spring is just around the corner and along with it the end of this incredibly cold winter we've experienced! This brings us to the time of year where we have our important club activities before us.
First, our nominating committee, headed by Annie Cornwall has selected a slate of officers for 2014-2015:

If you have ever had a friend or family member diagnosed by AIDS, or if the expense and hassles of every day medical treatment from a slight case of the flu to a hospital visit have you saying you’re “mad as hell and not going to take it any more”, then please do yourself a favor aand read a new book, Positive, by Dr. Michael Saag. The subtitle of his book is One Doctor’s Personal Encounters with Death, Life and the U.S. Healthcare System, which should give you an insight into some of the areas Dr. Saag exposes.
