String-Side UP

Hi Linda,

I know it's been a while since our last newsletter, but we've been working on several projects.

NEW: Absoute Beginner Series

Steve has taped a new series of lessons called String-Side UP for both mountain and hammered dulcimer players.  These lessons are designed to take you from square one in a step-by-step fashion, through sequential lessons designed to answer your questions, demonstrate and encourage best practices and get you playing music quickly.  Best of all, because you'll understand what you are doing, you can transfer that knowledge and these skills to the other music you want to play in no time

Videos Now iPad Compatible

Several of you have let us know you like to set your iPad on the music stand, and play your instrument along with the videos.  So to make this work for you, we have reformatted every video so they now play whether you're watching on a PC or Apple product.

My next project is to convert all our flash animations, so they will also play on your iPad.  So far, I have completed Angeline the Baker, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, and Front Range Rambles. If there is a lesson you'd like me to move to the front of my list, just shoot me an email.

"Like" our Facebook Page

A good way to get an instant update when something has been changed or added to the lessons is to follow us on Facebook. Every time I send Steve a progress report - letting him know what's been uploaded and what is still on my "to do" list, he immediately posts the news on our Facebook page.  You can stay in the know by simply clicking the "like" button.

Dulcimer Crossing Blog

I love to see new posts from Steve on our blog, because he takes me to new places, takes photos of unique instruments, and films awesome performances that he has encountered on his travels.  His latest post is called "Lance Frodsham Plays Epinette." How many of you ever heard of an epinette before?

Are You Practicing Your Christmas Tunes?

It's time, and we have a nice selection of Christmas songs for you to practice.  After I send this newsletter, I'll be getting back to work on the beautiful Austrian carol Still, Still, Still.  Steve has taped an amazing arrangement for a trio of hammered dulcimers, and he just sent me the video lessons for mountain dulcimer in D-A-A tuning.

As always, Linda, if you have any questions, always feel free to ask Steve Eulberg or myself.

Happy dulcimering,
Linda Ratcliff
