4J Winter Weather School Info:

Dear Families,

Winter weather is on its way! Here is some key information families need to know.When hazardous weather is a concern, decisions regarding schedule changes are made in the early morning, before school, when current weather conditions can be assessed. Decisions are made districtwide and are the same for every 4J school.

How To Find Out: If there is a change in the school schedule or bus routes, it will be announced in several ways, all normally before 6:30 a.m., including:

        Text-message alerts: will be sent to subscribers via Twitter. You can sign up to receive alerts about weather-related school closures and schedule changes. This text service is provided via Twitter and is free, except for standard text messaging rates as determined by your mobile phone plan.

Sign up for text alerts: Use your mobile phone to send a text message to 40404 that says FOLLOW 4JWEATHER

  • Confirmation: You will receive a text message confirming your subscription
  • Want to unsubscribe? Reply STOP — or if you follow other accounts and want to unsubscribe only from 4J weather alerts, reply UNFOLLOW 4JWEATHER

Hip Hop Dance at Charlemagne

We are so excited to be able to offer dance at Charlemagne! Here is all of the info that parents will need to know, and for registration!

Registration can be completed online at or by phone at 541-912-1140. You can also register on the first day of class, which is Monday January 8th

DAYS/ TIMES: Monday and Wednesday, 3-4 in the Gym

Lead Instructor: Drea Smith (of Xcape Dance Academy)

COST: 2 days per week is $60/ month. One day per week is $30/ month. Class goes until we break for Spring Break, and we will offer a performance opportunity at the end.

For the 8th year Spring Creek Holly Farm will donate 50% of the retail sales price of our Christmas trees to local schools!

***When anybody (not just a student family) buys a tree from Spring Creek Holly Farm ask them to mention Charlemagne and Spring Creek Holly Farm will donate 50% of the retail price to our school!***

You do not need a coupon or flyer, just mention Charlemagne before you pay. This is a great way to support a local business who supports our schools.

Spring Creek Holly Farm also has handmade wreaths, bulk greens and supports local artisans by offering their products in their store.

Our Winter Warmth Drive Continues:

This week please consider donating new or gently used shoes, boots, socks and other warm clothing to those in need. All donations collected will be distributed to local families experiencing homelessness through the hard-working folks at The First Place Family Center. Collection boxes are available outside the library through Friday, Dec 15th.

Winter Break Camp at the AAC


During the first week of Winter Break Camp we are offering an exciting, hands-on camp. Students will join us for a combination of STEM challenges, Art projects, Coding work, and problem solving exercises. 


Sign up for the full week or for individual days, as well as full day (9:00-3:00) or half-day (9:00-12:00).

OBOB at Charlemagne

Oregon Battle of the Books meetings have started at school. The meetings are at lunch (11:40-noon) in the gym for grades 3-5. Everyone is welcome. We talk about the books, practice quiz questions, and answer general OBOB questions. The dates of the meetings are posted on the OBOB bulletin board (across the hall from the office) and on posters near the lunchroom. Teams have not been formed yet. We are just practicing and reviewing book information. Information/Permission Slip packets went home this week. Please return signed permission slips by Nov. 15 to box by OBOB bulletin board. Coming soon: an updated OBOB page on the school website.
